A Dry Buffalo Jump Maternity Shoot

Maternity

Kaitlyn & Ryan

As if Dry Buffalo Jump wasn’t breath taking enough! You add this beautiful couple for a maternity shoot and it makes for some of the most stunning maternity portraits I have ever seen!

How we first met:

I met Kaitlyn and Ryan back in 2021, when I was the second shooter at their wedding. We immediately hit it off! Not only do Ryan and my husband work in the same field. But I related to Kaitlyn on so many personal levels that we became instant friends.

When Kaitlyn reached out to me and told me she was pregnant I was SO excited! Not just that I get to see them again, but that their family was growing! She wanted me to capture each special moment of this journey. Of course I accepted!

How did we decide it would be a Dry Buffalo Jump Maternity Shoot?

After chatting with Kaitlyn, we decided that Dry Buffalo Jump would be the perfect setting for their maternity shoot. I had been wanting to come back and do another session here. It had been quite some time since I took in all these breath taking views! I was SO pumped for a Dry Buffalo Jump Maternity shoot!

When we arrived and finished catching up on all the things happening in our lives, we were honestly stumped on where to even begin! Everywhere we turned was absolutely beautiful. It was almost a little overwhelming.

Where to begin!

We decided to start near some hoodoos and then make our way down to the river. Once the sun began to set and soften a bit, it created some perfect light to head to the open fields with a beautiful view!

We finished our time together at this really unique looking hillside with some awesome rolling textures of dirt. It is one of my more favourite back drops.

As the light faded and poor Kaitlyn’s energy drained to 0% we wrapped up our time together with hugs and looked forward to seeing each other in just a few short months when they welcomed their baby boy!

Here’s to many more sessions together

This amazing couple is such a joy to be around and I am looking forward to many more years of capturing their sweet family.

As we finished and started driving away I noticed the sky was a perfect pink and purple colour! I just had to get a wide landscape shot of Dry Buffalo Jump before we left for the evening. As I got out and set up my camera I even noticed you could see the crescent moon in the sky! It was a perfect landscape photo opportunity.
