Born and raised right here in Central Alberta, I have been photographing life's most candid moments for over 6 years now. I love my kids more than anything and they are the reason for my inspiration and why I do what I do. It's hard to believe my photography journey all began with an old iPhone photo of my husband and son playing together at the playground. The emotion of pure joy being captured and truly being able to feel the images was something I became obsessed with finding any chance I got! Being able to capture true emotions and telling peoples stories through a single image is such a blessing! It's so honouring to be invited into peoples biggest moments and being such a big part of capturing those memories!
The obsession started when I was about 14; I was gifted a full season of the show. After binge-watching the whole season(before binging was a thing) I immediately went out and bought the next 4 seasons. After that it became my mission to watch every single episode. So of course, I set out to find the remaining seasons. After watching them all, I couldn't sleep one night and I decided to put one of the DVD's on in my room to try and help me sleep. Well that became my nightly routine and still is today... A funny story is that in mine and my husbands wedding vows we both vowed to be supportive and understanding regarding my F.R.I.E.N.D.S addiction.
I know... It's so weird! But I have rarely come across frosting or icing recipes that I actually enjoy eating. As a kid I would ask for more of the "icing holder". I actually didn't enjoy sweets at all until after I was pregnant with my first son. My weirdest pregnancy craving was ice cream and chocolate because I never liked sweets all that much before then. Hats off to all my baking friends who keep trying to get me to try "their recipe" saying I will like the way they make it. I really wish I could love it more, but hand me some of that icing holder anytime!! Yum!!
I think laughter is the best medicine! I am not afraid to make jokes at my own expense if it means it makes someone's day that much better. I love a good thick layer of sarcasm and making light of awkward situations by bringing in the laughter. My humor really comes in handy when trying to get genuine smiles out of my couples during their photo session.
Aside from decorating cakes or baked goods, there really isn't much I can't do in the creative department. Crocheting is probably my go to favourite hobby but I have also dabbled in sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, digital design, painting, writing, and I even play guitar and sing. One of my favourite memories from my own wedding day was being able to create every detail myself. From my invitations to each piece of décor, It was all created by spending long nights with my hot glue gun! Today I still love planning styled wedding shoots so I can continue to create beautiful décor.
Not just a, "Yeah, I sing in the car and people tell me I'm good" sort of thing. But an actual competing/recording level sort of decent. For as long as I can remember I have had a love for singing at a competitive level. I have won 1st and 2nd place in two local competitions and recently I made it to the top 10 in Rejoice Alberta. There was a time when all I wanted was to make it as a famous singer/songwriter. Boy am I glad God had other plans for me. Although I still enjoy singing, playing guitar and leading worship at church, I realized I have new dreams with my photography and my family.
